Liquidity Pools
Agora pools let anyone provide liquidity for an Elysium coin and earn a share of every trade made in that pool. Each coin has one Agora pool, paired with HYPE.
Agora pools run on Uniswap V2, deployed by Agora without modification. Agora’s router trades them like every other venue, so a pool receives a trade whenever it offers the best price.
What liquidity providers earn
Every trade in an Agora pool pays a 0.3% fee:
| Share | Goes to |
|---|---|
| 0.25% of the trade | Liquidity providers, in proportion to their share of the pool |
| 0.05% of the trade | Agora (the protocol fee, 1/6 of the pool fee) |
Fees are added to the pool automatically, so each liquidity provider’s share grows over time. There is nothing to claim: fees are paid out when liquidity is removed. The pool card on a coin’s page and the Liquidity tab on your profile show your share and the fees it has earned.
How much a pool earns depends on how much trading it handles. Pools with more liquidity offer better prices, so Agora’s router sends them more trades.
Adding liquidity
- Open a coin’s page and select Add liquidity on its Agora pool card, or Open pool if the coin has no pool yet.
- Enter an amount of HYPE.
- Confirm two transactions:
- The swap. Half of the HYPE buys the coin through Agora’s router, at the best price available on Elysium. Agora’s trading fee applies to this half.
- The deposit. Both halves are added to the pool. You receive the pool’s LP token, which represents your share.
If you open a new pool, its starting price is the price paid in the swap. If a pool already exists, the deposit is made at the pool’s current ratio, and any unused amount stays in your wallet.
Removing liquidity
Select Remove on the pool card, choose 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of your share, and confirm. You receive your share of the pool’s HYPE and coins, including the fees earned.
With Receive everything as HYPE selected, the coins are then sold for HYPE through Agora’s router in a second transaction, and Agora’s trading fee applies to that sale.
Risks
- Impermanent loss. When a coin’s price changes, the pool rebalances between HYPE and the coin, and your share can be worth less than if you had held both. The larger the price change, the larger the difference. Launchpad coins are volatile, so this can be significant.
- The coin itself. If a coin loses its value, your share loses its coin half. Provide liquidity only for coins you trust; the verified checkmark marks each launchpad’s official coin.
- Launchpad taxes. Taxes set by a launchpad are charged in that launchpad’s own pools. Trades in an Agora pool do not pay them.
- Wrapped HYPE. Pools hold WHYPE (
